The Preamble
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
"...of the United States..."
In order to accomplish various things, people gather together and unite. The Bible mentions several times when the Tribes of Israel united. The Hebrew word is yhd, and means "to gather together" or "unite."
Deuteronomy 33:5, "And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together."
Moses was "king" over the united tribes when God's law was given to them. Thus unity should come as a nation of states unite to agree to hear and follow God's Law.
Ezra 4:3, "But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us."
It is proper for people to unite to build a house of God. Coming together from various states to worship God is a reason to unite.
Job 38:7, "When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"
The morning stars sing "together." Singing is a reason for many people to unify.
Psalm 133:1, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"
It is good and pleasant for families to live together in unity. Family relationships are a reason to come together and unite.
Psalm 2:2, "The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,"
It is ridiculous for nations to unite against the Lord.
Micah 2:12, "I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men."
The Lord will assemble and unite scattered Israel. It is God's purpose that the nation of Israel be united. By implication, He would want any other nation to Unite and obey Him.
Ephesians 4:13, "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"
Unity is a New Testament goal of our faith. The Saints are developed to the place they come in the unity of the faith.
Revelation 21:9-10, "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,"
The Saints are going to live in the same city together, called New Jerusalem. It is there that the Saints will be in Unity as we see our Lord and Savior.
It is important for states to form an Undivided Union if they are following God's Word, and seek to stand united for the Lord Jesus. When this ideal is not followed, separation and isolation from the ungodly state should result.
