Article 2, Section 1, Paragraph 6
In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.*
So What Happened?
This whole clause has been replaced by amendment to define the line of replacement.
The presidential office has become over-rated and has been given too much power. This has resulted in there being a “panic” among members of our Federal Government to make sure that there always is someone “in power.” This is a huge atrocity. The President is only to have very limited power. All those he supervises should be able to carry out their job without need of constant “permission” to do things.
Part of the problem contributing to there needing to be a person with presidential “powers” at all times is because our country is perpetually at war with the world. This warfare is unconstitutional. Having standing armies is unconstitutional. Meddling in the affairs of other countries is unconstitutional. If the Federal government would be reduced to its constitutional limits, this clause would not be such an important and overused element of the Constitution.
Expecting a presidential office to take on more than a person can handle is an obvious sign of the abuse of powers. As defined by the Constitution, the presidential office is important, but not at all indispensable. When the perception comes that this country and alas even the world would be better off without this office, there is a grave problem in our Federal government. When campaigns for the office become entertaining side shows, that cost millions of dollars and kowtow to every immoral interest in the country, the office has been officially proven to be ineffective and has run afoul the responsibilities and duties it is there to uphold. The presidential office must return to the limits established for it, and reject the granting of illicit powers and influence it has been given by the blind citizens of the United States.
