Article 1, Section 10, Paragraph 3
No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.
War only if in Danger
Feds control our involvement in war.
To provide for a peaceful nation, states were denied the right of waging war, unless they were invaded or in imminent danger.
Life is a sacred gift from God, and it is to be protected. A person should defend his right to live, and protect his freedom of self-defense. There is a time when one may have to protect life by force. This force may have to even extend to the taking an assailant’s life.
A criminal forfeits the right to life when he does certain things. What follows on a personal level, stands on the level of a city or a state. Burglary is one situation where a person proves a lack of dignity and respect for his own life.
Exodus 22:2, "If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him."
Here, God grants a pardon from charges to a person that defends his property against someone who is destroying it. In the same way, if a neighborhood, city or state have those who destroy it, it is important that they defend their territory, even if it means that they must go to war against the aggressors.
Not defending a state or territory is a wasteful endeavor that will bring sure destruction. There are repercussions to what we do.
Ecclesiastes 10:18, "By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through."
Ignoring a present danger and allowing the citizens of an area to suffer harm, because it is the responsibility of others is wrong for both individuals and governments at all levels.
Exodus 23:4, "If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again."
Even if you do not like someone, if they are in a crisis, you are obligated to help him.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up."
There is a time when entering war as a state during an emergency is right. California is overflowing with illegal immigrants. So when will California defend itself?
