The U.S. Constitution in Light of Eternity

by Rev. Clinton Macomber

Article 1, Section 9, Paragraphs 1-3

The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

What Happened?

No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

So What Happened?

Good intentions in immigration have backfired into a dangerous situation. The Federal Government has been granted the power of controlling immigration, but has done very little. The result has been the building up of several hostile groups within the United States that are intent on destroying this great Country.

Now the Federal Government is going to war against "terrorists," but the battle is being fought on foreign soil. The law limiting wars to two years in duration has been ignored. This war is being called an open-ended war. Here on our own soil, the Federal Government has been given wide latitude in limiting American Constitutional freedoms. Instead of combing the United States and casting out illegal immigrants or immigrants that have gotten citizenship improperly, all citizens are under scrutiny so the Government can appear to be handling the current threats with an even hand.

The Federal Department of Immigration and Naturalization has failed to control immigration into America. All too often, the Congress has used immigrants as pawns in political strategy and positioning. The Biblical model has each city control the ingress and egress as well as the verifying of citizenship status. Thus “border” control was done by each community. As needed, the cities join the country for limited actions on a national level.

A big problem is that instead of justice being about crime, justice has become the treatment of all races and classifications of people with an equal hand. This is wrong. When a person commits a crime, he needs to be held accountable. Not doing so causes there to be a proliferation of evil that a country cannot sustain.
