To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;
To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;
To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations;
So What Happened?
Patents and copyrights are now distorted out of control. Some companies have found ways to get around the purpose of the law and can keep control of their patents many years past the expiration date. This has caused an outcry and the desire for more laws to control the abuses. We do not need more laws. Courts need to rely on the law and not on "precedence" to interpret the written code. Courts are there to enforce the meaning and intent of the law, not distort it, and so require reams of laws to control their decisions.
Courts abound in our land, yet cases are not heard and tried in an expeditious manner. Part of the problem is because of the judges who are not removed, yet do not judge righteously and fairly. Another problem is found in the unlimited appeals process. It seems as if obvious cases are allowed limitless numbers of appeals because of lower court decisions. If lower courts cannot be trusted to reach proper decisions, such decisions should be heard only in higher courts. A third problem is the amount of time that elapses before a case goes to trial. Witnesses cannot be trusted to remember the facts. "Evidence" is used to convict, regardless of the fact it may be misinterpreted or misread.
The Oceans are loosely governed and much evil passes through them. International law is not governed by Moral or Ethical law, but by the whims of each nation. This leaves room for nations to fight over "policy" issues. God's solution is a rule of righteousness.
Some industries are being limited by regulation, while competitors are working unhindered and without concern for the future of their industry. In some areas, a few "experts" are ruling with complete abandon to the realities of the purpose of the oceans or the things in it.
