To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;
To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;
To establish Post Offices and post Roads;
Counterfeiting and Securities
Counterfeits lie about being genuine.
Counterfeiting is always a problem when a government pulls away from a precious metal standard and goes to paper or some non-intrinsic value exchange system. Paper money is actually the Government getting involved in doing counterfeiting because they do not want to bother remaining tied to a firm standard.
When money is coined and represents face value, it can be weighed and compared to known coins. The value is in the weight of the precious metal.
Congress is to set the penalty for counterfeiting. There will always be those who will try to not earn money, and instead fabricate their own. "Slugs" are easily identified however.
The economy God set up for His people is through trade of goods or payment in coins regulated by the Temple. If someone wanted the coins verified, they went to the temple. A coin of inaccurate value was "sin" and found offensive to God as well as man.
Coins are a Biblical medium by which to make fair exchanges and will be available throughout eternity.
Deuteronomy 14:24-25, "And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:"
Securities are the paperwork that guarantees a debt will be repaid, and gives the holder power of collecting on the unpaid debt. Government is to make sure that all promises are kept.
Romans 13:7-10, "Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."
The Devil is the Father of lies, and counterfeits are lies.
John 8:44, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
The Holy Spirit serves as a guarantee and security today by indwelling the believer. The open contract is the Scriptures. The original sealed copy of the Scriptures will be opened to reclaim the world when the saints are gathered together to see the Devil cast from the earth and the Lord Jesus crowned King of Kings.
Ephesians 1:13-14, "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."
