The U.S. Constitution in Light of Eternity

by Rev. Clinton Macomber

Article 1, Section 3, Paragraph 7

What Happened?

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

Removal from Office

The Senate is not a Judiciary, limiting scope of impeachment.

The Senate is not a judicial branch of government, thus they cannot adjudicate. Their power is limited to the removal from a government post.

This allows someone to be removed from office even if they have not broken laws.

There is more to governing than merely being legal. There is a responsibility.

God created mankind in His own image which is moral, ethical, and spiritual, and so leadership begins by doing things Biblically/

Genesis 1:26, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
