Article 1, Section 2, Paragraph 2
No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.
Attained to 25 years of age
Maturity brings about an humility in thought and action.
Maturity is not guaranteed by age, but it is an indicator of what should be expected.
1 Timothy 3:6, "Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil."
A Pastor cannot be a “novice” because this immaturity leaves a young man susceptible to pride. Maturity brings about a humility and consistency in emotions.
Maturity is the rejection of foolishness and the adoption of an perceptive understanding of what is really happening.
Proverbs 9:6, "Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding."
Paul explains that a lack of understanding should apply to wrong behavior, so maturity does not mean an understanding of all things, or as the devil put it in the Garden, an experiential knowledge of good deeds and evil deeds.
1 Corinthians 14:20, "Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men."
1 Corinthians 13:11, "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."
