This Top Bar Hive is constructed with sound exterior pine lumber, it is built for stability and strength. All plywood has been reinforced.

The measurements of the hive body are:

33 Inches tall

21 Inches wide

51 and 3/4 Inches long

The measurements of the hive roof (optional) are:

The hive is built to hold 33 top bars. Each top bar is specially cut to form a ridge that the bee’s can build their own comb off of. The size of the hive can be reduced by using the follower board so that the colony can better control their hive environment, the follower board is moved back as the colony gets bigger and more top bars are added. 18 Spacer boards are included to space the top bars for changing from brood to honey comb. There are two entrances (one at either end) so the option of keeping two colonies divided by the follower board in the same hive is available. The legs are made from 2x2 inch stock.

This verison comes with a peaked composition roof for extra weather protection, the roof is vented for Summer cooling and is oversized to keep winter rains out.

The top bar hive will be assembled in shop to make sure everything fits correctly, and then disassembled and packaged. It will be shipped in kit form with the assembly instructions and the needed hardware for assembly.
